New Issue of “ODBRANA” Was Published

For almost a year young women and men have been serving the voluntary military service in accordance with a new model, spending additional three months in training in the units of the Serbian Armed Forces. Desiring to find out how the soldiers and superior officers have adapted to the new way of training, the team of the magazine “Odbrana” peeked over the fence of barracks “General Pavle Jurišić Šturm” in Požarevac. On that occasion we saw that a working day in the Army Training Centre is all but ordinary.

Recently, the MMA Institute for Transfusiology and Hemobiology has officially become one of the five licenced transfusiology institutions as it is stipulated by new Law on Health Care in Serbia. They have already been included in IPA programme of the European Union for Serbia, and soon enough they will be included in a two year project which will put at their disposal the so called IPA funds for the procurement of the state-of-the-art equipment. The Institute is up for a reorganisation, introduction of a unique information system and adaptation of laboratory premises. About these novelties speaks Prof Dr Dušan Vučetić, a specialist in transfusiology, scientific associate who has been managing the Institute since August 2017.

Sergeant First Class Darko Trifunović and Corporel Miroslav Potić demonstrated that a Serbian soldier has a great heart in both times of peace and war. Owing to their courage and composure two lives have been saved. The new issue of the magazine brings short stories about the deeds of the two members of our armed forces.

We recommend to our readers the interview with Niccolo Lorenzini, whose creative work has been crowned with the works created in the production of the Military Film Centre “Zastava Film”. The interlocutor of our magazine speaks about already famous documentary “the Seven from Drina” and young Italians guided by Garibaldi’s ideas came to Serbia and joined our armed forces in 1914.
