Annual Conference of the European Defence Agency
A delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, led by Head of the Department for Defence Technologies Major General Bojan Zrnić, attended the annual conference of the European Defence Agency in Brussels.
The conference entitled "Security in the digital age: the added value of European cooperation in the field of defence" was opened by Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency, Ambassador Jorge Domecq, while the opening address was given by Head of the European Defence Agency, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini. Participants in the conference were also addressed by European Commissioner for the Security Union Julian King and Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid.
During the conference, the current issues of cyber security were considered as an area that occupies a significant place in the Global Strategy for the. European Union's Foreign and Security Policy. Considering the transnational character of cyber threats, particular attention during the conference was devoted to considering opportunities for wider international cooperation in strengthening adequate capacities to counter this type of threat. Also, the results in the field of strengthening technological capabilities in the cyber domain, as well as building the resilience of critical infrastructure, networks and services at the level of the European Union, were examined.
On the margins of the conference, General Zrnić had the opportunity to discuss with the representatives of the EU member states the current processes of enhancing defence cooperation within the European Union, as well as further development of research in the field of defence and strengthening the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base.
At the conference, the delegation of the Republic of Serbia included Acting Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Security Policy Ambassador Branimir Filipović and Head of the Military Representation in the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to NATO Brigadier General Predrag Bandić.
