Long and successful cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin was in Banja Luka today and on that occasion he met with Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining Petar Đokić, in the building of the Government of the Republic of Srpska.

Vulin and Đokić met with company directors from the field of defence industry and discussed models for establishing stronger cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska in that area.

The meeting was attended also attended by Mr Nenad Miloradović, Acting Assistant Minister for Material Resources, and Major General Bojan Zrnić, Head of the Department for Defence Technologies.

According to Minister Vulin, political relations between the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbia are at the highest possible level and political relations should not be the only thing that connects us.

- Economic relations must also be raised exactly to the level of political relations that we have. I am here today under the order of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, and I am here to work on concrete mechanisms how to help the defence industry of the Republic of Srpska, how to connect it with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, how to improve their capacities and to discuss all the modalities of our entry into ownership, to discuss all the modalities how to put technology, people, tradition and everything that Republic of Srpska's defence industry possesses and put it in the function of the Serbian Ministry of Defence, Minister Vulin said.

He added that these two countries have a long and successful cooperation with all the companies that have been mentioned.

- We need both technology and people working in these companies, and we just wish to raise it to a higher level. This is an excellent opportunity to satisfy the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces, but also to improve both the business and the living standard of people in the Republic of Srpska. When you recover such a high-tech enterprise such as "Orao" or "Kosmos" or a special engine factory, you keep the most educated ones, you save engineers, you save people who are well paid, you save people who are technologically improving the living in their environment. That is exactly what we want to do, we wish to help the Republic of Srpska and to help ourselves, as well. We wish to help our industry, we wish to ensure that the knowledge and technology we need be really our ownership, Minister Vulin said, adding that he thinks that this is the right path of cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska and that this is the best way to help each other.

- Our political relations are so good that the economy has to follow them and must not be below it, Minister Vulin said, and especially thanked the company "Kosmos" because their experts worked together with our racketeers who achieved remarkable results in the firings at the firing range in Bulgaria and, as he pointed out, "if there was not their expertise and technology, probably our result would not have been so good."

Minister Đokić said that today they summarised a two-day activity that is jointly realised by the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.

- I am very grateful to Minister Vulin, who came on behalf of the Serbian Government with the intention to help and continue to intensify the activity that started a few years ago. We now expect that it will gain additional intensity with his activity in the way that we will be able to significantly change relations in terms of the status and functioning of the three strategic companies in the Republic of Srpska - "Orao", "Kosmos" and "Pale" special-purpose engine factory. Today, we agreed that in the following days, we will legally define the model of cooperation and the way it will function, Minister Đokić said.

Before the meeting, the ministers Vulin and Đokić visited the "Kosmos" company and met with the director Dušan Vještica and the company's management. They visited the plant for the production of finished products, the power plant, the Laboratory for Electric Power Repair and the Metrology Laboratory.
