Marking the 103rd Anniversary of the Battle of Cer

High military and state honours, laying of wreaths and cultural-artistic programme, in Teknikiš village, near the town of Loznica, marked the 103rd anniversary of the Battle of Cer, which represents an important and first victory for Serbia and the Allies in the First World War.

The state ceremony was led by the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, Zoran Đorđevic, who reminded that the gathering pays tribute to the glorious and courageous Serbian soldiers for whom the word withdrawal did not exist for four days and that there was no withdrawal, and that the Serbian army courageously resisted the overwhelmingly larger and stronger Austro-Hungarian troops.

On the 103rd anniversary, the wreaths were laid at the memorial ossuary "The Battle of Cer" in Tekeriš by the descendants of the warriors of Cer, representatives of the public authorities, members of the veterans' associations, history lovers and many others.

In honour of the Cer heroes, the 8th march up Cer, dedicated to the Field Marshal Živojin Mišić, was held, during which about 2,000 participants walked from Loznica and Šabac to Tekeriš, on a track about 30 kilometres long.
