Minister Đorđević at Bayram Reception

The Minister of Defence, Zoran Đorđević on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, attended this evening the official Iftar dinner and Bayram reception on the premises of the Islamic Community of Serbia next to Bajrakli Mosque, which marked the end of a month long holy Muslim Ramadan Fasting and the beginning of Bajram. mod
The representatives of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces also attended the official reception organised for the representatives of public, cultural, political scenes of Serbia, as well as for diplomats and representatives of religious communities in Serbia.

Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community of Serbia Sead Nasufović wished all the Muslims happy Ramadan Bayram and said that the next day was the first day of Ramadan Bayram and that the obligation of Muslims was to share the joy with their family, neighbours and friends as well as to visit their deceased ones and ask God for their everlasting peace and salvation.

This evening, in the yard of Bajrakli Mosque a feast was served with food and drinks for all the believers celebrating the beginning of Bayram.

Tomorrow, Muslims are celebrating Ramadan Bayram, one of the two most significant Islamic holidays. Ramadan Bayram marks the end of fasting, and the days of joy will ensue – the Days of Bayram. The first day of Ramadan Bayram begins with Morning Prayer called Bayram-Namaz. Public festivities are also organised, and people exchange gifts and visits. Ramadan Bayram is always on the 1st day of Shawwal (the tenth month of Muslim calendar) and lasts for three days, and the believers consider it to be “the Holiday of the passed test”.
