Driving competition on the occasion of the Day of safety of military traffic participants
On the occasion of the Day of safety of military traffic participants today in Kraljevo in Ribnica barracks and Beranovac airport the driving competition was held after a long break. The organizer of the competition including 26 best drivers from the Serbian Armed Forces and 3 from the Petroleum Industry of Serbia, which has several year-long cooperation of the high quality with the Armed Forces, was the Logistics Department of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff.
Opening the competition, whose aim is the improvement of safety of military traffic participants, Head of the Traffic and Transport Section in the Logistics Department of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Colonel Zeljko Rankovic, PhD, stressed that competition of drivers continued in the Armed Forces in order to develop healthy competitive spirit among them and further improve road safety.
The first part of the activity was conducted in the training battalion of the Traffic Service and the Logistics Training Centre by doing test of knowledge of traffic regulations whereas the second part included the practical activities at Beranovac airport.
The competition was conducted in two categories with two groups of competitors. The first group demonstrated its driving skills on FAP 1118 BS/AV vehicles whereas the second group did the same on LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 vehicles. After that, the best drivers were declared and presented with certificates for the first three places according to categories, as well as plaques for the first places in both categories.
In the category of a driver of FAP 1118 BS/AV vehicle the best results were achieved by Corporal Dejan Djurdjevic from the training battalion of the Traffic Service of the Logistics Training Centre whereas in the category of a driver of LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 vehicle the best driver was Corporal Vladan Pavlovic from the same unit.
Within the competition the Day of safety of military traffic participants was officially marked for the first time, when in all garrisons where units and institutions of the Serbian Armed Forces are located, a special emphasis is placed on safety of military traffic participants.
Within marking the Day of safety of military traffic participants in Ribnica barracks the work of simulators “inclined plane”, “rollover” and “drunk goggles” was displayed, where participants got acquainted with all positive effects of protective systems in a vehicle.
Colonel Zeljko Rankovic, PhD and Major Aleksandar Drobnjakovic gave a lecture on traffic safety with emphasis on the analysis of the state of safety of military traffic participants in the Serbian Armed Forces and the most common causes of traffic accidents (vehicle speed and influence of alcohol).
