Confirmation of developed cooperation with Italy
During a study visit to the Republic of Serbia, the delegation of 19th Higher Joint Services General Staff Course in the Centre for High Defence Studies in Rome led by Brigadier General Francesco Lombardi has visited the Ministry of Defence. Addressing members of the delegation on behalf of the host, State Secretary Nenad Neric emphasized the importance of strategic partnership between two countries and thanked the Italian side for the support to Serbia on its European course. Mr. Neric expressed contentment with the reached level of defence cooperation with Italy and highlighted that the Ministry of Defence was committed to continuation and enhancement of defence cooperation in all segments of mutual interest.
The organizational structure and responsibilities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, strategic documents and development directions of the defence system, as well as activities of the Ministry of Defence in the accession process of Serbia to the European Union was presented to students of the highest level of military education in the Italian Armed Forces.
The Italian delegation has also visited the University of Defence, Military Academy and River Flotilla of the Army and got acquainted with the organization and tasks of the mentioned institutions. In Yugoimport SDPR the guests got familiar with its organization and production capacities of this company and the Serbian Defence Industry.
At the end of the visit, in the International Military Cooperation Department, Head of this Department Navy Captain Milan Konjikovac and Brigadier General Francesco Lombardi analyzed the results of the visit and mutually concluded that cooperation between two countries was intensive, and that there is enough space for continuation and further improvement of military educational cooperation.
