Minister Djordjevic in a visit to the Anti-Corruption Agency

The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic has visited today the Anti-Corruption Agency, where he talked to the Acting Director Verka Atanaskovic.

Minister Djordjevic stressed the significance of the work of the Anti-Corruption Agency as an independent state authority and the leading institution in fight against corruption. In the talks Djordjevic underlined that the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces represented an institution that enjoys the greatest confidence of the citizens, and that the visit to the Agency today is one more step to the further strengthening of the confidence of the public in the defence system.

At the meeting the further enhancement of collaboration between two institutions has been discussed. Although the competent services in the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces continuously monitor the work of all departments, there are internal units in the organizational structure of the Ministry of Defence which may be at risk of corruption. Therefore, besides the existing officials of ministries treated as officials according to the Law on the Anti-Corruption Agency, it is necessary to take into consideration generals and civilians holding the position in the military. It was agreed that the Anti-Corruption Agency and the Ministry of Defence will take the necessary steps, so that the mentioned persons would be covered by the term official in the Draft Law on the Anti-Corruption Agency, under the control and jurisdiction of the Anti-Corruption Agency.
