Defence Minister met with representatives of the Military Unions



The Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic met today with representatives of the Association of Free and Independent Trade Unions and the Serbian Defence Trade Union.
 
The representatives of the Association of Free and Independent Trade Unions introduced the problems they had encountered in their work and willingness to keep their requests in the sphere of real trade union struggle, which would bring concrete prosperity to members of the Serbian Armed Forces and employees at the Ministry of Defence whereas the representatives of the Serbian Defence Trade Union pointed at some dilemmas, whose solution can lead to the enhancement of the status of the employees and their work efficiency.
 
Minister Djordjevic said that he would react quickly to concrete and real proposals, thus regular meetings with representatives of all trade unions represent open communication, which will contribute to continuous improvement of the social status of all members of the Serbian Armed Forces and employees at the Ministry of Defence.
 
He emphasized that the part of commitment to better social status of the employed in the defence system represented the announced increase of salaries, which would not be linear this time and should contribute to the ones with the lowest income feel the improvement.
 
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defence has adopted the set of measures, from contracts with some supermarket chains through advantages for purchase of books and school supplies, vehicles, travel arrangements to 7 percent discount for purchase of oil at the Serbian Petroleum Industry gas stations, which would improve the status of all employees.
 
The Defence Minister emphasized that the abovementioned measures were the result of the direct dialogue with representatives of trade unions, and all members of the Serbian Armed Forces. He announced the continuation of direct talks with NCOs, professional soldiers and civilians in all units, so that solving concrete, individual problems would contribute to the enhancement of professional and economic status of these people.
