Meeting of the Minister of Defence with the US Ambassador
The Minister of Defence, Zoran Đorđević and the Ambassador of the United States of America, Kyle Scott have talked about the cooperation of the two countries in the field of defence.
The occasion of today’s meeting was the participation of the Minister of Defence in the ministerial conference of the Global Counter ISIS Coalition which is going to take place in Washington next week.
The high level of bilateral defence cooperation was positively assessed by the both sides, as well as its influence on the overall relations of the two states. The contribution that the USA makes to the modernisation and equipping of the Serbian Armed Forces through numerous donations, with particular emphasis on donation of HMMWV vehicles was particularly highlighted. During the meeting the interlocutors exchanged views on current politico-security situation.
Đorđević stressed that Serbia continues leading a balanced defence policy constantly working on the enhancement and further development of relations in that field with all the states and international organisations in line with defined national interests. In the spirit of such policy, the Minister of Defence Zoran Đorđević will participate in the ministerial conference of the Global Counter ISIS Coalition.
