Minister Đorđević Received Delegations from MMA and MIA



On the occasion of the Day of Military Medical Academy and the Day of Military Intelligence Agency, the Minister of Defence, Zoran Đorđević received today delegations from those two institutions.
 
Delegation of the Military Medical Academy was headed by Deputy Head of Military Health Department, Colonel Dr Uglјeša Jovičić, and the delegation of the Military Intelligence Agency was led by Acting Head of MIA, Colonel Zoran Stojković.
 
Minister Đorđević took the opportunity to wish them a lot of success in their future work stressing that both institutions, each in its domain, are important for the functioning of both the defence system and the Republic of Serbia.
 
The Day of Military Medical Academy is observed on 2nd March in memory of the 2nd March 1844 when Prince Aleksandar Karađorđević signed a Decree proclaiming “the Law on the establishment of hospitals of the Central Army”. The Military Medical Academy was founded in 1949 and the new MMA building on Banjica was completed in 1981.
 
The Day of Military Intelligence Agency is 5th March which is observed in memory of 1884, when Foreign Section was set up within Operational Division of the General Staff, which was the first time in the modern Serbian state that the military intelligence activity was institutionally organised.
