Minister Djordjevic signed Agreement on defence cooperation in Slovakia



Министар Ђорђевић у Словачкој потписао Споразум о сарадњи у области одбранеDefence Minister Zoran Djordjevic, who is on an official visit to the Slovak Republic, has met today Slovak Defence Minister Peter Gajdos.
 
The ministers have signed the Agreement on defence cooperation between Serbian and Slovak governments with mutual consent that a continuous and intense political dialogue at all levels, positive experience, acquired trust and strong bonds from the common engagement in UN mission in Cyprus, as well as the high level of understanding of global issues represent an excellent basis for further improvemenet of defence cooperation.

Minister Djordjevic thanked for the given support of Slovakia in EU integration and preservation of sovereignty of Serbia and stressed his appreciation of the contribution of the Slovak Republic Embassy as the Contact Embassy for cooperation of the Republic of Serbia with NATO in the past 4 years.
 
Djordjevic assessed the bilateral military cooperation as developed with the space for further improvement and gave support for the continuation of the common engagement in UNFICYP mission in Cyprus as the key segment of the cooperation. He emphasized the positive experience and excellent cooperation of the members of the Armed Forces of Serbia and Slovakia in the mentioned mission and the engagement of the infantry platoon of the Serbian Armed Forces within Slovak contingent.

Minister Gajdos highlighted traditional friendly relations of two countries as an excellent basis for defence cooperation of high quality according to current economic possibilities. He offered continuation of support and exchange of experience in the process of EU integration of the Republic of Serbia.

Analysing the current political and security situation in the region and the world, Djordjevic and Gajdos stressed the importance of potential undertaking of common activities for more comprehensive solution of security threats.
 
During his visit to Slovakia Minister Djordjevic visited the National Assembly and talked to President of Committee for Security Anton Hrnk.


Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic visited the military cemetery in Veliki Medjer and laid wreath at the memorial to killed Serbian soldiers.
