State Secretary meets Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff



Mr Nenad Neric, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, received Lieutenant General Vassilios Tellidis, Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff.
 
During the meeting, they expressed clear orientation to further intensification of relations in all areas of common interest, including in the field of defence. In addition to discussions about the importance of joint training of special units and participation in multinational operations of the United Nations in Lebanon, as well as the possibilities of improving further cooperation through joint participation in international exercises, at the meeting, they discussed the necessity of cooperation between the intelligence and security services.
 
Namely, the security challenges, risks and threats in the form of terrorism, economic and energy dependence and uncontrolled migration of people from crisis areas, require that cooperation in this area be raised to the highest possible level, especially with the neighbouring countries. With this in mind, State Secretary Neric stressed that Serbia is investing extraordinary efforts to applying enhanced border control and prevention of criminal activities of smugglers and traffickers.
 
The Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff and the delegation of the armed forces of that country visited the Fourth Army Brigade and the South Base Peacekeeping Operations and Pre-Deployment Training Centre on the previous day and they attended the ceremony marking the Army Day in Nis.
