Another 300 professional soldiers in the ranks of the Serbian Armed Forces

At the initiative of Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic, the procedure was started to admit 300 professional soldiers by the beginning of November this year, while next year, admission of another 1,500 soldiers in the Serbian Armed Forces is expected.

So far, during 2016, 95 professional soldiers have already been admitted, while 255 candidates responded within two weeks to the announcement for admission of professional soldiers to the Special Brigade from the ranks of soldiers in reserve from the records of the regional centres of the Ministry of Defence.

We recall that only candidates who have previously completed military service under arms can be admitted to the professional military service, and that as of December this year, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces are to establish a new way of voluntary military service under arms that will last six months.

The goal is to improve operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces by additional training of soldiers in order to release the professional soldiers, so that they can devote more to improving the acquired knowledge and skills, and to strengthen the reserve element. One of the benefits provided for the new soldiers are greater allowances in the last three months of the military service.
