Minister of Defence meets the Ambassador of Greece




Састанак министра одбране са амбасадором ГрчкеDefence Minister Zoran Djordjevic discussed with the Ambassador of Greece in Belgrade, Elias Eliadis, the possibilities of enhancing cooperation in the field of defence and in the areas of common interest.

The interlocutors concluded that the new security challenges, risks and threats in the form of terrorism, as well as a migratory crisis that undermines regional stability are impetus for even closer cooperation between intelligence and security agencies of the two countries and the interconnection of all countries in the region.

Minister Djordjevic pointed out that the Joint Forces of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior which are engaged in securing the state border with Bulgaria and Macedonia are still contributing to the regional security. Since the beginning of their engagement, more than 9,000 migrants have been prevented from illegal crossing.

Djordjevic expressed his gratitude for the continued support of Greece in preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty in Kosovo and Metohija, the European integration of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the extraordinary hospitality of the Greek people on marking the centenary of the Battle of Kaimaktsalan and the celebration of the centenary of landing of the Serbian Army on the islands of Corfu and Vido.
