Minister Vulin: We are not the largest, but we are the toughest armed force in the world




 
Military training ground “Alabino” near Moscow was a venue of a grand finale of the “Tank Biathlon” which was attended among others by Serbian Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin upon an invitation from the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoygu. As expected, the winner of this year’s “Tank Biathlon” is the team of the host, the Russian Federation.
 
Prior to the final race, Ministers Vulin and Shoyhu visited the stand of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces in the House of Friendship, and during the evening, there will be a bilateral meeting of the ministers of defence of Serbia and Russia.
 
Answering the questions of Russian journalists, who were very interested in the International Army Games, underlined his satisfaction with the results of the team of the Serbian Armed Forces and said that they demonstrated on that international military competition as well, that the Serbian Armed Forces were not the largest armed forces of the world but that they were the most stubborn and toughest.
 
- Each year, we increase the scope of our participation. This year, we participated in Tank Biathlon, in the category of snipers and competition of engineering units. We are an armed force that is not too large in numbers, but we successfully cope with much greater and more developed than we are. In the Tank Biathlon we were on the sixth place in the semi-finals, our engineering team was the third, and the mixed sniper team was the first – Minister Vulin underscored.
 
The International Army Games started on 28th July, and more than 5000 soldiers from 32 countries participated in this two week competition. They competed in 28 events which encompass almost all conventional branches of the armed forces. The competitions were concurrently held in the territories of seven states.
 
According to the results so far, Russia has won the highest number of medals – 18 gold, 5 silver and two bronze medals. China is in the second place, followed by Kazakhstan.
 
The first International Army Games were organised in 2015, upon the initiative of Russian Minister of Defence Sergey Shoygu and they are one of the greatest military-sports competitions in the world.
