Intensification of defense cooperation

Head of the International Military Cooperation Department, Brigadier General Ljubomir Nikolic, received a three-member delegation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland led by the defence attache Colonel William English.

Brigadier General Nikolic assessed that the current state of relations between the Great Britain and Serbia in the field of defence is the best part of the overall bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed his satisfaction with the achieved level of cooperation in the field of defence, although there is considerable space for its quantitative and qualitative improvement. Bilateral cooperation in the field of defence is mainly conducted through four major projects: security sector reform, public relations, English language learning and cooperation through the NATO Trust Fund.

Colonel William English expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in the implementation of activities of mutual interest. The intensity of cooperation has been increased more than four times in the past 18 months. For the PELT (Project for English Language Teaching) project, the British side has allocated substantial funds in 2012, and there is a mutual interest in further cooperation in this field.

The bilateral military cooperation plan for 2013 has also been coordinated at the meeting, which completely follows the focal areas of cooperation and conclusions of the ministerial visit to London.
