Conference on planning the concept for the "Combined Endeavour 2010" exercise



In “the Hyatt” Hotel in Belgrade a conference on planning the concept of the “Combined Endeavour 2010” which is a test for all PfP signatories to test and improve the interoperability of their respective telecommunication and IT systems.

The delegations from 34 countries with more than 120 participants will take part in this four-day conference. At the opening State Secretary Zoran Jeftic as well as Jennifer Brush, Charge d Affairs of US Embassy and Colonel Daniel Machete, representative of EUCOM J6.

State Secretary Jeftic reminded that Serbia had significantly intensified its relations with NATO which have been carried out predominantly within PfP since 2006. Cooperation in It was defined as one of the main fields of cooperation with the Alliance.

Jennifer Brush wished all the participants successful work stressing that Belgrade was very important not only to Serbia and the Balkans but for the Europan history as well.

Colonel Daniel Mechet said that by good organization of this conference, Serbia has proved its commitment to the Partnership for Peace Program which unifies and integrates communication and IT systems. He reminded that the museum of Nikola Tesla was located in Belgrade, a great scientist whose inventions are the foundations for modern telecommunications systems. This conference would start, as Mechet said, by looking back at the achievements of the previous exercise, as well as considering those issues, which need improvement.

The head of the Serbian delegation Major Milan Krtinic pointed out that our experts have been participating in the said activities while this year they took part in the exercise conducted in Banja Luka. The Serbian Armed Forces is now a host to one out of five conferences which are being held in order to carefully plan the exercise for the following year.

“Combined Endeavor 2010” should test the latest technologies in telecommunications and IT thus enabling a high level of interoperability among all armies with their reps at the exercise.
