Engineer Corps of the Serbian Armed Forces renewed in accordance with the highest standards
The Engineer Corps of the Serbian Armed Forces has been renewed in accordance with the highest standards, and members of our engineer units are fully trained and ready to be engaged in any task at short notice and when the citizens of Serbia need help.
Thanks to major investments of the Ministry of Defence and the donation of the People’s Republic of China, engineer units of the Serbian Armed Forces have been equipped with modern machines, primarily engineer equipment, trucks, mechanized systems for making barriers and overcoming obstacles which enable members of the Serbian Armed Forces to perform tasks more efficiently and safely in all three missions of the armed forces.
Engineer equipment donated to the Serbian Armed Forces by the People’s Republic of China has significantly enhanced the operational capabilities of the Army in performing engineer and counter-engineer activities. This equipment has proved to be exceptionally good quality and reliable in the field, with high usability.
Among the 40 machines received from the People’s Republic of China, there are self-propelled engineering machines (motor graders, crawler dozers, wheel dozers, rollers), utility vehicles (truck tractors, tipping lorries, water tankers, petrol tankers), integral transport machines (forklifts) and special vehicles (ambulances and fire engines), which have already been widely used in eliminating the consequences of technological accidents and natural disasters and helping the affected residents of our country.
Execution of tasks in all three missions of the Serbian Armed Forces, whether in war or peace, cannot be imagined without the participation of engineer units which show how valuable they are in most difficult situations. There are numerous examples of engineer units being the first to come to the aid of the citizens affected by floods, earthquakes, landslides, fires and other natural disasters.
In addition to being equipped, the basis for successful execution of tasks are the training and professional competence of the staff, and this year, members of the Serbian Armed Forces have proven that they are ready to deal with the most complex weather conditions and terrains in order to help the people wherever and whenever it is needed.
After the disasters caused by extreme weather affected almost entire Serbia at the end of June this year and caused massive damage, members of the Serbian Armed Forces provided assistance to the affected population in Arilje, Blace, Prokuplje, Kruševac, Trstenik, Gornji Milanovac, Ivanjica and Mali Zvornik.
In these places, members of the Serbian Armed Forces were engaged in restoring riverbeds, repairing damaged roads, building and reconstructing ramparts around flooding rivers, stopping and backfilling landslides, setting up bridges that connected residents of the cut off villages with the towns, and repairing damage to private property. In places where there was a shortage of water due to repair works on the damaged pipeline and water supply infrastructure, the Serbian Armed Forces provided tankers with drinking water.
Like so many times before, the engineer working groups did everything to bring the life on the territory of the affected municipalities back to normal as soon as possible and showed that the Serbian Armed Forces are always there for their people, ready to provide all necessary assistance by engaging men and all available machinery.
Thanks to the work of engineer units and new engineering machines procured in the last few years, this year, a new tank biathlon course was built at the "Međa" military complex for members of the Serbian Armed Forces, designed and adapted in accordance with the design plan of the training ground provided by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, so that in the future the Army’s tank crews can prepare for tank biathlon competitions in realistic conditions.
In addition to the tank biathlon course, a protective rampart towards the village of Međa was constructed, thanks to which conditions have been created for artillery, armoured and mechanized units to carry out firing practices with barrel inserts.
