The new hospital in Karaburma completed three days before deadline

Reconstruction of the old and construction of a new part of the hospital at the “Karaburma” Military Medical Centre, intended for the treatment of patients with Covid-19, donated by “Termomont” company and its partners, has been completed three days before the scheduled deadline.

The Head of the Military Healthcare Department, Brigadier General Uglješa Jovičić and the director and owner of the “Termomont” company, Dejan Burčul visited the new hospital and made sure that the only thing that remains to be done before the new health care facility starts work is to provide it with necessary medical equipment, which will be done in the coming days.

- On behalf of the medical health care, I thank the "Termomont" company for what it has done for the military healthcare, the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. This is an extremely important hospital for us at this time when we are fighting the Covid-19 disease and when, in such a short time, in just 10 days, we have managed to put into operation the “Karaburma” Military Medical Centre, where there are 80 beds and where the patients with the most severe symptoms are treated. Something amazing has happened, a new hospital with a capacity of 60 beds has been built in 14 days, so the capacity of "Karaburma" Military Medical Centre has now been expanded to 140 beds - emphasizes General Jovičić.

He said that members of the military health care, together with the civilian health care professionals, are fighting daily to suppress coronavirus in hospitals at the Belgrade Fair, the Novi Sad Fair, and in the “Čair” hall as well, and that when the pandemic is over, the new hospital in Karaburma will remain to be used for the treatment of patients with both military and civilian health insurance and to contribute to the advancement of patient treatment.

According to the owner and director of “Termomont” company, Dejan Burčul, a realistic deadline for the construction of a facility like the new hospital at the “Karaburma” Military Medical Centre is 90 days.

- We started with an estimate that it would take us 18 days, but managed to complete it in 14 and a half days. It is too short a period, but technologically and technically we have been able to build the facility whose quality meets all the conditions that were required of us - explains Burčul, pointing out that the project was completed in an extremely short time due to the great motivation of the people engaged in the construction of the new hospital.

The value of the investment made by the “Termomont” company and its partners in the renovation of the old 1,000 square meter facility, extending it to 1,300 square meters, which is the current size of the new hospital, as well as the construction of the access road, amounts to more than 37 million dinars. The owner of “Termomont” points out that they did now worry about how much money would be spent, but focused on completing the hospital as soon as possible to help those in need.

- More than 10 companies were involved and everybody worked in parallel and worked hard to help one another. They worked in two shifts. About 120 to 140 workers worked in the morning and 40 to 60 workers at night. Technologically, we divided the work so that the completion of one stage of the work led to another, they did not overlap, and really everyone has given their maximum - said Burčul.

The admission of Covid-19 patients for treatment will begin as early as next week at the new hospital at the “Karaburma” Military Medical Centre.
