Meeting of Ministers of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Norway




Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin was welcomed with the highest state and military honours In Oslo, where he stays in the visit to the Kingdom of Norway at the invitation from his colleague Frank Bakke-Jensen.
 
Ministers Vulin and Bakke-Jensen exchanged positions on politico-security situation in the Western Balkans, Scandinavian region and Arctic belt.
 
Minister Vulin underlined that the Republic of Serbia is a militarily neutral country and that it would not join NATO or any other military alliance. He stressed that transformation of Kosovo Security Forces into so called Armed Forces of Kosovo was absolutely unacceptable for Serbia since it represented a flagrant violation of UN Resolution 1244.
 
- Unilateral decisions of Priština authorities complicate the sensitive security situation in Kosovo and Metohija and region. For Serbia, KFOR is the most responsible for maintenance of peace and security in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija – Minister Vulin pointed out.
 
Serbian and Norwegian ministers agreed that the long standing defence cooperation between the two countries was highly developed and that there was room for its further enhancement.
 
Minister Vulin underscored that the Kingdom of Norway was one of the most significant countries for Serbia in terms of expert and financial support in the field of military medicine, reform of military education and defence planning.
 
He expressed gratitude to Minister Bakke-Jensen for donations for additional equipping of Serbian field hospital, development of CBRN Training Centre in Kruševac, Regional initiative for advanced distance learning, and for the financial assistance rendered until that moment for implementation of the on-going project of NATO Trust Fund.
