Meeting of the Minister of Defence and the Ambassador of France

Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin and newly appointed Ambassador of the French Republic Jean-Luis Falconi met today in Belgrade.

At the start of the meeting, the minister of defence bid welcome to Ambassador Falconi to Serbia and expressed his expectations that during his term in office, the tradition of good relations between our countries would be continued.

As Minister Vulin pointed out, the presidents of Serbia and France, Aleksandar Vučić and Emanuel Macron had established excellent relations. Visit from President Macron to Serbia - the minister added - in the year when we mark 140th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations, has additionally strengthened the friendship between Serbian and French peoples.

According to Minister Vulin, the announcement of President Macron that France would be entirely ready to support restauration of the dialogue and reaching an agreement between Belgrade and Priština, is very significant for Serbia.

Minister Vulin stressed that the establishment of “Kosovo Armed Forces” was absolutely unacceptable for Serbia, and that KFOR represented the only guarantee of security in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija in conformity with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.

Ambassador Falconi stated that the Serbian Armed Forces were recognised for their tradition and that it was the strongest armed force in the region at that moment. He expressed his gratitude to the Serbian Armed Forces for the participation in multinational operations under the auspices of the European Union and United Nations.
