Minister Vulin: The world will see the Serbian Armed Forces at the Red Square

- It is great honour for our country that we have received an invitation from Russian leadership for the Serbian Armed Forces to participate in the Victory Parade on 9th May 2020 in Moscow. Minister Shoygu is a sincere friend of Serbia, just like President Putin, and in this way they have shown how much they appreciate the contribution of Serbia to the victory over fascism – said Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin appearing in the Morning programme of the Ratio Television of Serbia.

As he pointed out, there had been times when this country renounced its anti-fascist past and consequently its anti-fascist future.

- Stjepan Mesić received a medal on the Red Square, but no Serbian soldier was there nor were any of them decorated. We participated in the victory, but no Croatian state participated in it, but the ones who predominantly participated were the Serbs – Minister Vulin stressed.

According to him, it has not been decided yet on unit and number of members of the Serbian Armed Forces that will participate in the Victory Parade.

- The Guard or a unit of the Army, or we will make a mixed company consisting of all the arms of the Armed Forces. It is certain that they will make their nation proud. The Supreme Commander will be proud, the state will be proud. And we all have a reason to be proud. We will be on the Red Square, we will stand in line, like our forefathers stood in line of the victors, in line of those who saved the planed from the greatest evil that has ever existed – from the evil of Nazism and Fascism – the minister of defence said and added that Serbia had reason to be proud of its armed forces.

- When we march on the Read Square, the entire world will be able to see what kind of people we have, and that we are worthy of our ancestors. I am grateful to the Russian leadership for having found the way to show how much they appreciate Serbia and what our ancestors did, and that they also appreciate the present and the future of Serbia as well. Our relations with the Russian Federation are not relations of people enchanted by the past. We respect and we are proud of our past, but we have joint future – concluded Minister Vulin.
