Minister Vulin: Nobody cares for peace as much as Serbia does

- Serbia is a guarantor and a guardian of peace in the Balkans. As long as Serbia is headed by Aleksandar Vučić, neither Jadovno nor Jasenovac, neither "Flash", nor "Storm" will ever happen again, ever again. Never again the Serbian people will peacefully accept to be taken to camps, oppressed and expelled. Never again, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said at marking the Day of Remembrance and commemorating the victims of the crime of genocide committed by the Ustasha regime in Jasenovac concentration camp and its biggest execution site in Donja Gradina and the parastos and memorial service for the victims of the genocide of the Ustasha regime.

- Because everybody was silent about Jasenovac and because nobody spoke about Jasenovac, the Serbs ended up experiencing Ustasha ideology, perishing, being killed and expelled, again, at the end of the 20th century. Our obligation is to speak about Jasenovac, our obligation is to remind and our obligation is that every time anyone tries to relativize the evil that happened in Jasenovac, to restore the Ustasha ideology, we should speak and oppose it. The essence of civil wars in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be understood without knowing Jasenovac horror, and without knowing and understanding the scale of the genocide committed in Jasenovac. Thus, Republika Srpska had to be created as a resistance against another genocide in Jasenovac, the extermination of the Serb people, their expulsion and oppression, Minister Vulin emphasized, adding that the Republic of Serbia, as one of the guarantors of the Dayton Agreement will always strongly support Republika Srpska and the Dayton Agreement and will never allow the horror of Jasenovac to be repeated.

- Serbia is a guarantor of peace, Serbia is a guardian of peace, Serbia is a guarantor that all the peoples of the Balkans will live well and live in peace, and there is no one who cares for peace more than the Serbian people do. Serbia is the guarantor of peace and the guardian of peace, but also the guardian of the freedom of its people, the guardian of the right of the Serbian people to live where they were born, to last where they were born, and never again to experience genocide such as it was in Jasenovac. Serbs should not be the only ones who condemn and remind of the horror of Jasenovac, it should be done by all people and all nations, everyone who is human and humane, Minister Vulin said.

Today's manifestation began with the service of the hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, after which the wreaths were laid at the Donja Gradina Memorial Complex, with serving parastos and memorial service for the victims of the genocide committed by Ustashas.

The event in Donja Gradina was led by the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic, and attended by representatives of the governments of the Republic of Serbia and Republika Srpska, representatives of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Roma communities and the international community and diplomatic corps.

The system of concentration camps in Jasenovac is the biggest execution site in the Second World War in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. The concentration camp in Donja Gradina camp was established in 1942 in the Ustasha's Jasenovac concentration camp system and it was active until the end of the Second World War in 1945 and the breakdown of the Independent State of Croatia. Donja Gradina Memorial Site was one of the largest execution sites of the concentration camp Jasenovac, where mostly Serbs, Jews and Roma were killed.
