Minister Vulin: Great confidence in military health

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin visited Military Medical Center Novi Beograd, where free medical examination campaign for all citizens has been organized today. In that health care center, as well as in Military Medical Center Novi Sad and Military Hospital Niš, within the framework of today's campaign, more than 1,200 citizens made appointments for medical examinations.

Speaking about the campaign, Minister Vulin pointed out that this is a way to show once again how much the military is a part of the everyday life of every citizen of Serbia and how much investment in the military is investment in the standard of the civilian population as well.

- Every dinar allocated for our military is the allocation for improvement of the quality of life of every citizen of Serbia. This free examination campaign, regardless of whether you have any type of insurance, has been launched in Novi Sad, Niš and Belgrade in military institutions and is provided to anyone, regardless of whether they are insured, how they are insured or not insured. The interest is really huge, over a thousand people were examined here, just today, and because of this interest we will continue this campaign and we will certainly do it periodically. It shows that we need more capacities; it shows what I am particularly pleased about – a great deal of confidence in military health care, in a military institution, because you can see how many people wish to be examined by military doctors – Minister Vulin pointed out.

According to him, the Ministry of Defence will be able to increase investments in military medicine next year, and this will certainly contribute to the quality of life of the military insured persons, but not only the military insured persons.

- Each year, 3,800 members of military health care service examine 115,000 military insured persons and 300,000 civil insured persons. This year, over 10,000 military insured persons, and 20,500 civil insured persons, were hospitalised for stationary treatment. Every dinar invested in military health is a dinar in the quality of life of every citizen of Serbia – Minister Vulin concluded.

Acting Head of the Military Health Department, Colonel Dr. Uglješa Jovičić, stressed that in all towns, in the course of today's campaign, patients used internist, ultrasound, neurological and eye doctor examinations in the largest percentage.

- Our capacities are relatively limited today, and we will examine the patients that have appointments for today, and as Minister Vulin said, more than a thousand examinations were carried out in all military medical institutions where the campaign was organized today. However, we need to quickly repeat this action and for all patients that we could not manage to complete examination today we took their phone numbers and we will notify them, and maybe next week examinations will be organised for them in order to complete this campaign, and of course, to continue it later – Colonel Jovičić said.

Dragomir Tomić was among the citizens of Belgrade who made use of today's free campaign in MMC Novi Beograd.

- I completed the check-ups and I am happy about organizing this campaign. I was at the surgeon, eye and ear doctor, so I am satisfied with this camopaign, because I did not have a health insurance card and I managed to make use of this campaign in the best way – Dragomir Tomić said.

Apart from Belgrade, free medical examinations have been organized at the Military Hospital Niš and the Military Medical Centre Novi Sad, today, from 8 am to 2 pm, where internist branches of medicine, surgery, radiology, physiotherapy, biochemistry and dentistry were engaged for the examinations of the citizens.

In the Military Hospital Niš, a total of 465 specialist examinations, 129 radiological diagnostic procedures and five spirometry tests were performed, while 18 patients were sent for additional laboratory analyzes.

Until 8:30, more than 250 interested patients from South Bačka District passed through the gate of the Novi Sad Military Hospital. According to the director of the Military Medical Center, Colonel Bratoljub Brkljača, who personally welcomed the first patients, the citizens are still very interested in examinations in the military hospital that has been working for seven years within the framework of the health institutions of Vojvodina.

The majority of patients were in front of the offices of cardiologists, radiologists and laboratories, and they expressed the hope that the campaign would be continued.
