General Janicijevic and Harris paid a visit to the joint patrol in the Ground Safety Zone



The Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command Major General Slavoljub Janicijevic and Assistant Adjutant General Ohio National Army Guard Major General John Harris have visited today the members of the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR engaged in the simultaneous patrol in the Ground Safety Zone along the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija.

According to General Harris, the joint patrols emphasize the importance of building trust, and it is well known that Ohio and Serbia have had the outstanding partnership for many years.
 
“The patrols along the administrative line are conducted, inter alia, in order to prevent criminal activities and to improve the collaboration between KFOR and the Serbian Armed Forces”, General Harris said.
 
General Janicijevic pointed out that the Serbian Armed Forces gave the utmost importance to the cooperation with international security forces in Kosovo and Metohija, especially with the members of KFOR, and that cooperation is significant.

“The cooperation is comprehensive, characterized by trust and enhancement in all aspects, mainly general security situation along the administrative line, that is in the area of responsibility of the international security forces and the Serbian Armed Forces”, General Janicijevic said.
 
According to the Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command, this activity today is one of many forms of the cooperation between KFOR and the Serbian Armed Forces and is focused mainly on the joint intention to consider security challenges, which can be registered in this area.

“The key security challenge in this area is of course illegal activities, and what represents the special threat along the administrative line for the members of the Serbian Armed Forces is the illegal logging and the armed persons from Kosovo and Metohija participate in it”, General Janicijevic explained.
 
The joint simultaneous patrols of the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR in the Ground Safety Zone have been carried out since 2005.
