All units marked the Serbian Armed Forces Day



Military ceremonies, laying wreaths and flowers at the memorials to fallen members have been conducted today in all commands, units and institutions to celebrate the Serbian Armed Forces Day – 23rd April.

The ceremonial defile of the members of the Army Command in the Military Club in Nis was attended by the Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, who congratulated the Serbian Armed Forces Day on behalf of Chief of General Staff and his own behalf.
 
After the ceremony in the Military Club, the members of the Army Command attended laying wreaths at King Aleksandar Monument.
 
The members of Novi Sad garrison marked the forthcoming holiday by the defile of the members of the 1st Army Brigade, the River Flotilla, the 5th MP battalion and 240th Air Defense Self-Propelled Missile Battalion in the barracks “Jugovicevo” in Novi Sad. The ceremony was attended by the 1st Army Brigade Commander Brigadier General Zeljko Petrovic, the River Flotilla Commander Captain (N) Andrija Andric, Mayor of Novi Sad Milos Vucevic, Provincial Secretary for Higher Education and Scientific Research Zoran Milosevic, Commissioner of the South Backa District Milan Novakovic and numerous other guests.
 
The members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the barracks “Rastko Nemanjic” in Pancevo, “Ribnica” in Kraljevo, “Prince Mihailo” and “Mija Stanimirovic” in Nis and “The 1st infantry regiment of Prince Milos the Great” in Vranje were congratulated on the holiday by Brigadier General Zoran Velickovic and Colonel Zeljko Kuzmanovic, Predrag Grbic, Zvonko Stojkovic and Slobodan Stopa.
 
The holiday was also marked in other garrisons and garrison places of the Army.
 
The members of the Air Force and Air Defence marked the Serbian Armed Forces Day by military ceremonies in the Command of this branch of the Army in Zemun, at airports in Batajnica, Ladjevci and Nis, as well as the barracks in Zuce, Kragujevac, Pancevo and Banjica.

In the barracks “Banjica” in Belgrade in the presence of the Chief of Operations Department of General Staff Brigadier General Dusko Zarkovic and the Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Brigadier General Sava Milenkovic, in front of the ceremonial defile of the members of the 250th Missile Brigade, the 126th Air Surveillance, Early Warning and Guidance Brigade and the 210th Signals Battalion the congratulatory messages of the President of the Republic of Serbia, the Defence Minister and the Chief of General Staff on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day were read, as well as the orders on the awards and incentive measures. The military delegation laid wreaths at the memorials to the fallen members of the Air Force and Air Defence in these barracks.
At the ceremony in “Topcider” barracks, with greetings for the Serbian Armed Forces Day and the anniversary – 10 years since the establishment of the Training Command, the Commander of this composition Lieutenant General Djokica Petrovic said that freedom and honour are the most valuable and topmost values of a nation and therefore the struggle for freedom has always required great victims and sacrifice. General Petrovic added that the greatest value of the Training Command is human potential characterized by professionalism, competence, stable interpersonal relations, solidarity and mutual respect and dignity.
Military ceremonies in the presence of the retired members of the Training Command, representatives of local governments, the Serbian Orthodox Church and public companies, as well as ceremonies of laying wreaths and flowers at the memorials to fallen members have also been conducted today in Sombor, Valjevo, Leskovac, Pozarevac, Krusevac, Gornji Milanovac, Batajnica, Pancevo, Zrenjanin, Jakovo and at Pasuljanske livade combined service training range.
 
The members of the Guard celebrated the Serbian Armed Forces Day in “Dedinje” barracks in Belgrade. Greeting the ceremonial defile and guests the commander of the ceremony Major General Milomir Todorovic congratulated the members of our elite unit on the holiday, wishing they continue performing all set tasks successfully in the following period.
 

The Serbian Armed Forces Day has been celebrated in the Command and units of the Central Logistics Base, the Signals Brigade, the 224th Electronic Warfare Centre, the Military Geography Institute, the Simulations Training Centre, the Centre for Command and Information Systems and Support and the Centre for Applied Mathematics and Electronics.
 
The Serbian Armed Forces celebrate 23rd April as its holiday to mark the day when, on Palm Sunday in 1815, the decision was made to raise the Second Serbian Uprising to liberate Serbia from the Ottoman Empire, which later enabled the creation of the modern Serbian state.
