Minister Vucic meets with General Stavridis
First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic met with the NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and Commander, U.S. European Comand (USEUCOM) Admiral James Stavridis.During the meeting they both exchanged views on the current situation in the region, in the southern Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija, the scope and modes of KFOR’s engagement in the future as well as Serbia’s cooperation with NATO and the United States.
On this occasion, Minister Vucic particularly stressed the need for the Serbian population in Kosovo to be protected, thanking KFOR for the intervention in protecting the Patriarchy of Pec and Decani Monastery. Furthermore they also discussed further cooperation in the framework of the Partnership for Peace program and the participation of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the EU and the UN.Vucic and Stavridis met during General Stavridis’s farewell visit to regional countries prior to Gen. Stavridis’s retirement.
