Minister Vucic visited the defence fair in Abu Dhabi



First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Serbian Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic attended the opening ceremony of the largest fair of weapons and equipment in the Middle East – IDEX held in Abu Dhabi. It is held under the patronage of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahjan. The fair was attended by more than 60,000 military representatives and 77 defense ministers from around the world, with 1112 companies from 59 countries exhibiting their products, including "Jugoimport" SDPR from Serbia, whose stand since Jugoimport first started exhibiting in the show, was visited Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahjan.

"Serbia will produce highly sophisticated missiles for the United Arab Emirates," as Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic after visiting the fair, weapons and equipment said in Abu Dhabi today

Vucic said that at yesterday's meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahjan agreement regarding all contracts between the two countries had been reached, especially in connection with investments in the defense industry. It was agreed that the emirates state company "Earth" and Serbian "Jugoimport" SDPR should sign an agreement on joint development of a missile system ALAS.

"What is most important is that a big contract will be signed. This will be the most sophisticated and modern weapon that we have ever made, as Vucic stated.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister said that it was 200 million EUR worth contract, while the first stage  in the short term investment of around 24 million euros.

"The first investment in the production of highly sophisticated missiles are expected in a few weeks," Vucic said.

Today in Abu Dhabi an agreement on mutual boost and protection of investments will be signed, as well as a joint statement on establishing strategic partnership and cooperation agreement in the field of defense.

The basis for these contract will be an agreement on border cooperation between Serbia and the United Arab Emirates, which will also be signed today in Abu Dhabi.
