The exhibition "Portraits- mirroring the times, face of time"



Celebrating 130 years of the Vrsac City Museum , at the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club an exhibition from the collection of the City Museum London "Portraits- mirroring the times, the face of time was opened last night"

The exhibition, which is a collaborative effort of the Media Center "Defense" and London City Museum, includes 45 paintings, 25 drawings and two sculptures, and author of the exhibition was the curator of the Museum of Vrsac Dragan Kurucev.

Our famous drama artist, a Vrsac-born, Rada Djuricin, opened the exhibition with the verses Vasko Popa, dedicated to this city of Banat.

AS early as 1882 Vrsac got the City Museum, but now it can be called a city of museums, because it boasts of six museums - Rada Djuricin said, expressing satisfaction that she was honored to open last night’s exhibition of portraits.

Speaking about the importance of setting, director of the City Museum London Anica Medakovic Vrsac Museum curator and Dragana Kurucev specifically highlighted a very fruitful cooperation with the team of The Gallery of the Army and once again justified the exceptional reputation in the circles of museums and galleries Serbia.

Models who posed in front of the easels of famous artists, were both ordinary people and very prominent citizens of Vrsac, of Paja Jovanovic, who was at the Academy painted by his colleague Rudolf Swoboda, Jovan Sterija Popovic and Mayor of Vrsac, the majestic portraits of King Alexander - said curator of the Vrsac museum highlighting the common link between models and artists in Vrsac where their life paths at one point touched.

According to the director of the Media Center "Odbrana" LTC Slavoljub Markovic, in the years behind us, Gallery activity was based on collaboration with cultural institutions across the country. He also expressed satisfaction that the gallery, therefore, in a position to jointly celebrated many anniversaries as well as the Museum of Vrsac, and that itself Gallery of the Army the following year anniversary mark six decades of existence.

In the gallery of the Central Military Club, in November the city audience will have the opportunity to see the portraits of the citizens of Vrsac, representatives of churches, deserving personalities of history and culture by Jovan Popovic, Konstantin Danil, Uros Predic, Paja Jovanovic, Nikolai Kuznetsov, Mihaly Munkaci, Nicolae Popescu, Ivan Radovic, M. Josic, Charles Napravnik, Stojan ET, Zoran Petrovic, Risto Stijovic.

The exhibition will be open until 01 December 2012.
