Minister Gašić attends anniversary celebration at Kruševac Faculty of Agriculture
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić today attended a ceremony marking the anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture in Kruševac.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Marko Malićanin, presented the Minister of Defence with a certificate of appreciation for his initiative and outstanding contribution to founding the faculty, and for his selfless support.Addressing the audience, Minister Gašić recalled 2012, when the initiative to establish the first state faculty in Kruševac was launched, driven by a desire to enable young people to pursue higher education in their hometown.
- Five years later, by government decree, the Faculty of Agriculture was founded in Kruševac under the University of Niš. It opened its doors to students in October 2017. Today, fourteen years after the initiative was first launched, we can be satisfied with what has been achieved. Kruševac has gained an institution that provides higher education to new generations of professionals and plays an important role in our town's academic life. As someone who was born and raised in this town, I am greatly delighted to attend the celebration of the faculty’s anniversary and to witness that an important idea was put into practice to the advantage of Kruševac and the entire Rasina District - the Minister of Defence said, expressing his gratitude for the recognition and thanking everyone involved in the founding of the faculty. He noted that plans are underway to establish two more faculties in the town - a Faculty of Political Sciences and a Faculty of Arts.He said that by educating young people and advancing research, the institution helps increase domestic production and lays the groundwork for advancing agriculture in this part of Serbia. He underlined that contemporary crises have shown how important it is for every country to have its own food production resources and facilities.
- Food security is vital to both economic stability and national defence, and the ability to ensure a reliable food supply for people becomes even more important during uncertain times. As Minister of Defence, I know all too well how important long-term planning, developing national potentials, and investing in people are to national security. That is why training skilled professionals, developing science, advancing domestic production, and applying new knowledge all contribute to Serbia’s stability and a more secure future – the Minister of Defence emphasised.Minister Gašić noted that "seeing how the Faculty of Agriculture in Kruševac has developed, we can say that hard work, perseverance, and belief in an idea have yielded good results.” He expressed his gratitude for the recognition given to him.
- It has a special value for me, as it comes from an institution founded on the initiative launched during my tenure as Mayor of Kruševac, a town I belong to and a town I am extremely proud of. I offer my heartfelt congratulations on your anniversary and wish you continued success, new scientific achievements, and generations of successful professionals whose expertise and work will contribute to the development of our region and our wonderful, rich country – Minister Gašić said.At the ceremony, diplomas were presented to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and certificates of appreciation were handed to the Mayor of Kruševac, Ivan Manojlović, and other distinguished individuals.
