Minister Gašić visits Defence Industry factories in Kragujevac
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić visited Zastava Oružje and Zastava TERVO companies in Kragujevac today.
During the tour, he met with Saša Milošević, Managing Director of Zastava Oružje, and the company’s management. He subsequently met with Stefan Đurić, Acting Director of Zastava TERVO, and company representatives.The Minister of Defence was briefed on the companies’ recent business performance and their plans to further boost production capacity. Discussions also focused on the delivery of existing contracts and investment projects aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the national defence industry, as well as the status and working conditions of employees.
While at Zastava Oružje, Minister Gašić toured the gun and machine gun manufacturing plant and assembly workshops at the Product Design and Development Business Unit. At Zastava TERVO, he toured the production facilities and the Technical and Technological Development Sector, where he spoke with staff.Speaking about the vital role both companies play in the national defence industry, Minister Gašić highlighted the importance of their continued development and contribution to Serbia’s defence system.
- When you visit facilities like these and speak to the people whose knowledge, expertise and experience drives the daily production of arms and complex weapons systems, you realise how important they are to maintaining the quality recognised both regionally and globally. Zastava Oružje has built and preserved its tradition for decades through the consistent quality of products coming off its assembly lines - an achievement owed to the industrious, hard-working people of Kragujevac and the surrounding region who work here. Our task is to lay the groundwork for experienced professionals to pass on their knowledge to new generations and for the factory to produce state-of-the-art arms primarily for our armed forces, while continually improving its production capabilities. The success of Zastava Oružje and Zastava TERVO is the pillar of our national defence system – Minister Gašić said. 
He noted that a well-developed defence industry represents a strategic advantage for our country, as it enables us to rely on our own professional expertise, technology and production. Therefore, investing in its continuous development is vital to ensuring Serbia’s long-term security.On today’s tour Minister Gašić was accompanied by the Acting Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, Ph.D., the Head of the Defence Technologies Department, Major General Slavko Rakić, and the Mayor of Kragujevac, Nikola Dašić.
