Newly admitted soldiers undergo field training

Military service volunteers of the September 2026 intake, assigned to basic training centres in Sombor, Valjevo and Leskovac, have completed their first field training at Serbian Armed Forces training areas.
Soldiers of all specialties must undergo this form of practical field training at the end of the first phase of their military training in the Serbian Armed Forces. The goal is to assess the knowledge and skills acquired by soldiers, as well as their ability to perform basic combat tasks on the battlefield. Another goal is to give the soldiers an opportunity to adjust to living and working in the field.

Over the past several days, soldiers assigned to the 2nd Training Centre underwent field training at the Belo Polje – Boričevac and Đenovac military training areas in Valjevo. They practiced defensive and offensive tactical actions and procedures, including orientation, observation, camouflage, combat group movement on the battlefield and reconnaissance patrols, while using newly introduced infantry weapons and modern ballistic equipment.
According to Major Željko Popratnjak, Head of the Training Department at the 2nd Training Centre Headquarters, one of the objectives in this training phase is to practice key elements of tactical training in field conditions, as well as to check logistical elements in providing support, as well as telecom and IT elements in establishing and maintaining planned communications.

As part of the field training, a 10-kilometre march was conducted to increase the soldiers’ physical endurance, ability to fight off fatigue, as well as their capability to perform tasks under increased physical and mental strain.
Once they return from the field, they will undergo a skills assessment, where they will demonstrate their ability to perform individual tasks. They will then be assigned to specialist training centres to prepare for their future duties.
