Serbian Armed Forces contingent replaced in Sinai Mission

Serbian Armed Forces personnel who were deployed with the international peacekeeping mission in the Sinai Peninsula since March have returned to the Republic of Serbia following a successful tour of duty and the handover of responsibilities.
This was the Serbian Armed Forces’ sixth rotation in the mission of the independent peacekeeping organisation “Multinational Force and Observers,” established pursuant to the 1981 agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Israel with the aim of implementing the security provisions of the 1978 Egypt-Israel agreement.

For six months, members of our contingent, comprising a staff officer and a nine-member engineering task force, were engaged in planning and executing engineering and infrastructure works at the mission camp in the south of the Sinai Peninsula. Of particular note is the construction of a new water supply and hydrant network, which has significantly improved safety conditions and infrastructure reliability within the camp.
The performance of Serbian Armed Forces personnel was assessed by the mission command as exceptionally professional and responsible, thereby upholding the reputation of the Serbian soldier and representing the Republic of Serbia in the best possible light within the international environment.

In the Area of Operations, they were replaced by members of the seventh rotation of the Serbian Armed Forces’ engineering unit, who, following the handover of duties, began their six-month deployment performing the same tasks.
The Serbian Armed Forces began their participation in this mission in July 2023 by deploying an engineer task force as part of the U.S. contingent, thereby demonstrating their capability to deploy forces and resources in an international environment and their full commitment to building and maintaining global peace.
