Serbian Armed Forces continue assisting with firefighting efforts across Serbia

An Mi-17 helicopter from the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence was deployed today to assist with firefighting efforts on Mount Stolovi, near Kraljevo.
The fire has engulfed more than 200 hectares of grassland and low vegetation. High temperatures and strong winds are hampering firefighting efforts, while ground crews are working to prevent the flames from reaching residential areas and pine forests.

Given the inaccessible terrain, aerial firefighting is currently the most effective approach. The Serbian Armed Forces helicopter is equipped with a 3,500-litre helibucket, collecting water from a purpose-built reservoir in the village of Kamenica.

The same Mi-17 helicopter was recently deployed to help fight a major fire in the Deliblato Sands, an operation that also involved other Serbian Armed Forces personnel equipped with fire engines and engineering machinery.

Last night, members of the Army joined firefighting efforts near the villages of Gornja and Donja Breznica in the Bujanovac region. The fire has since been successfully contained.

The Serbian Armed Forces remain ready to assist the public, deploying available personnel and resources whenever required, whether to put out fires, distribute water, or respond to natural disasters and accidents.
