Serbian Armed Forces provide water supply assistance to drought-stricken areas

In response to prolonged drought affecting certain parts of the country, Serbian Armed Forces personnel have been deployed to provide water to local households in the Bujanovac, Veliko Gradište, and Kruševac areas, following official requests from local self-government authorities.
The effort is focused on replenishing wells and reservoirs used by households and livestock, primarily in the villages of Donje Novo Selo near Bujanovac, Donji Šiljegovac near Kruševac, and Ram near Veliko Gradište. The personnel will remain in these areas with their water tanker trucks until hydrological conditions stabilize and regular water supply is restored.

In addition to their assistance to drought-affected areas, Serbian Armed Forces’ engineer units are working daily to ensure the safety and maintenance of pontoon bridges across the Velika Morava near Svilajnac and across the Danube, connecting the Zemun Quay to the Great War Island. In addition, military medical teams are taking part in the Ministry of Health’s “Military Doctor in the Village” initiative. The Serbian Armed Forces’ personnel recently engaged in battling wildfire at the Deliblato Sands, remain on high alert, prepared to redeploy should new fires emerge.
In situations where, due to extreme temperatures, many areas across Serbia are faced with water shortages and wildfire, the Serbian Armed Forces remain fully prepared to deploy personnel and resources to help residents and mitigate the impact of natural disasters. In this way, they demonstrate their commitment to serving citizens, not only by defending the country, but also by distributing water, firefighting, building pontoon bridges across rivers, providing medical assistance, building roads, fixing landslides, and clearing snow deposits.
