Army reconnaissance units conduct tactical training

Members of the Third Army Brigade and the Armoured Reconnaissance Battalion have conducted the final phase of their summer training at designated locations in the vicinity of Niš. The activities included vertical manoeuvre training and crossing water obstacles.
The tactical exercise, which utilized a helicopter from the 119th Mixed Helicopter Squadron, demonstrated that the Army reconnaissance personnel is well trained and fully capable of carrying out a wide range of intelligence tasks in support of troops deployed deep behind enemy lines.

During this training phase, the personnel mastered water crossing skills using standard-issue and improvised watercraft.
Platoon Commander Second Lieutenant Lazar Janković said that prior to this training phase, the personnel had successfully completed instruction in swimming, hand-to-hand combat, knife throwing, and survival cooking and foraging.

— Training in crossing water obstacles begins with the reconnaissance of the water obstacle to gather information on the characteristics that are relevant to us, such as its width, depth, the speed of the current, and the slope of the banks, to determine the approach – said Second Lieutenant Janković, noting that water crossings are conducted using standard-issue watercraft, such as assault and reconnaissance boats, or rafts built from materials available in the surrounding area.
Reconnaissance units conduct training throughout the year in various types of terrain and under a range of operational conditions, ensuring a high level of capability and combat readiness across these units of the Serbian Armed Forces.
