Formal ceremony honouring Field Marshal Živojin Mišić
As part of the 30th edition of the cultural and historical festival titled Mišić’s Days, a formal ceremony was held this evening at the Cultural Centre in Mionica to honour Serbia’s famous Field Marshal Živojin Mišić, bringing the eight-day festival to a close.
The municipality of Mionica, the host of the event, awarded the large Field Marshal Živojin Mišić commemorative plaques to members of the Serbian Armed Forces in recognition of their outstanding service and contributions to military science and doctrine. Plaques, charters, and commemorative ducats bearing the likeness of Field Marshal Mišić were presented to Serbia’s distinguished public figures. Marking Municipality Day, the president of the municipality of Mionica, Boban Janković, presented commemorative plaques to Brigadier General Slađan Hristov, Head of the Human Resources Department of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff (J-1), and Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Božović, the top-ranked graduate of the 69th General Staff Course held at the Field Marshal Radomir Putnik School of National Defence, Defence University.
Earlier in the day, as part of Mišić’s Days, a delegation representing the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces laid a wreath at the Monument to Field Marshal Živojin Mišić in Mionica.The commemorative ceremony included a music and stage performance titled Field Marshal Živojin Mišić’s Victory at Kolubara - a Signpost Toward the World’s Dreamed-of Horizons, which was dominated by compositions performed by members of the “Stanislav Binički” Art Ensemble of the MOD’s Public Relations Department.
