Military service volunteers undergo skills assessment

Soldiers performing their voluntary military service as part of the June 2026 intake have been tested on their basic individual skills at Serbian Armed Forces training centres.
This was their first assessment evaluating their ability to carry out battlefield tactics and procedures independently, use weapons and military equipment, and perform internal service and guard duties.

Second Lieutenant Marko Nikolić, a platoon commander at the 3rd Training Centre, explains that the assessment focuses on the soldiers’ basic marksmanship and tactical skills, understanding of service regulations, execution of close order drill, as well as on their first aid and fire safety skills.
- The purpose of this assessment is to help us leaders to assess the soldiers' ability to carry out tasks and, based on that, refer them to specialist training centres,” said Second Lieutenant Nikolić.

Private Viktorija Veljković emphasizes that it is a great honour and privilege to serve our country and stand in formation, following the example of our ancestors.
   - I would describe the training as demanding, as it was a period of life when everything was new to us. It was difficult at first, but as time went on—and with the help of our superiors, who were fully dedicated—it gradually became easier,” said Private Veljković.

As their military service continues, the soldiers will undergo training at specialist training centres to master the use of the equipment and assets specific to their branch or service, thereby preparing for the final phase: collective training within Serbian Armed Forces units.
