Live-Fire Training with Modernised Tanks

Members of the 15th Tank Battalion of the First Army Brigade conducted tactical training and live-fire exercises with modernised M-84 AS1/2 tanks at the Pasuljanske Livade Training Ground.

During the multi-day training, conducted to enhance crew proficiency and maintain a high level of combat readiness, the tank crews performed various tactical and live-fire tasks under conditions closely resembling real combat situations. The focus was on practising sudden and forceful breakthroughs through enemy dispositions and engaging various targets while on the move and from short halts.

The tank company commander, Captain First Class Marko Dražić, assessed the live-fire exercises as successful and highlighted the crews’ effective application of tactical procedures and the accuracy of their fire.

“Crew live-fire exercises are conducted following the completion of preparatory and practice firing with tank weapons. We will next conduct tactical live-fire exercises, which represent the culmination of tank-unit training,” Captain First Class Dražić said.

He also took the opportunity to invite young people to apply for the current recruitment competition for service in the tank units of the Serbian Armed Forces.

“All young men and women who are citizens of the Republic of Serbia and under the age of 35 are eligible to apply, regardless of whether or not they have completed military service under arms,” Captain Dražić said. Speaking about the advantages of serving in the Serbian Armed Forces, he noted that it was a demanding but honourable profession offering a competitive salary, social and health insurance for service members and their families, as well as accelerated accrual.

Sergeant First Class Ivan Pavlović, a member of the 15th Tank Battalion, spoke about everyday life and work in a tank unit, stressing that service in these units was more than just a job.

“A soldier’s day is dynamic and varied. It begins with physical training, continues with specialist training and also includes teamwork, which is essential for the effective performance of assigned tasks. In accordance with annual plans, in addition to unit-level training, we also conduct field training and scheduled live-fire exercises with tank weapons,” Sergeant First Class Pavlović said.

Young men and women interested in serving in this or another tank unit of the Serbian Armed Forces may apply for the current recruitment competitions for civilians seeking appointment to positions as drivers and gunners of M-84 and T-72MS tanks in the battalions of the First, Second, Third and Fourth Army Brigades, as well as in the T-72M Tank Battalion. The duty stations are in Sremska Mitrovica, Kraljevo, Niš and Vranje, and applications are open until 15 July.
