Regular training of SAF tank crews
Members of the Tank Battalion, Third Army Brigade, are conducting intensive training at their home station and at a military training area near Niš, with the aim of further enhancing their capabilities to carry out assigned missions.
In the initial stage of training, tank crews use the M-84 tank simulator to develop and enhance their skills in tank operation, target acquisition, and weapons systems handling. The simulator also enables crews to analyse and further improve their performance. The next training stage is conducted at the range, where crews undergo tactical training.Major Igor Savić, commander of the 36th Tank Battalion, explains that training is carried out in all terrain, weather and tactical conditions to ensure that the unit is fully prepared to carry out its missions and tasks.
- Training in the 36th Tank Battalion is a continuous year-round process. Through the implementation of all planned activities, we improve the capabilities of our crews and prepare them to successfully carry out their tasks in the modern operational environment - Major Savić said, adding that recruitment competitions are currently open for civilians interested in joining the tank units of the Serbian Armed Forces.Second Lieutenant Danilo Popić, tank platoon leader, says that training is conducted in various conditions and on different types of terrain, including a classroom equipped with three different simulators – basic driver training simulator, simulator for training gunners in the operation of the tank machine gun, and an aiming and firing simulator.
- Training instructors can identify mistakes made by trainees and adjust their performance and procedures. The use of these simulators helps crews achieve a high level of proficiency and skill, ensuring they are better prepared for tasks performed in the field - Second Lieutenant Popić says.
Young men and women interested in joining this or some other tank unit of the Serbian Armed Forces can apply through recruitment competitions currently open for civilian candidates for the positions of M-84 and T-72MS tank drivers and gunners in the battalions of the First, Second, Third and Fourth Army Brigades, as well as in the T-72M Tank Battalion. Duty locations are in Sremska Mitrovica, Kraljevo, Niš, and Vranje. Applications are open until July 15.
