Minister Gašić meets with Commissioner for Protection of Equality
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Milan Antonijević, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen institutional cooperation in the fields of equality, non-discrimination, and the protection of human rights.
The two officials discussed the implementation of gender equality policies within the defence system, as well as proposed amendments to the Law on the Serbian Armed Forces relating to conscription. They also discussed cooperation in the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.Minister Gašić briefed the Commissioner on the representation of women in the defence system. He noted that women have equal opportunities for professional development and career advancement and added that a significant number of women hold leadership positions.
Commissioner Antonijević emphasized that the institution he heads is fully committed to cooperating with the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in promoting equality and preventing discrimination. He also commended the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces for their constructive cooperation with the institution he represents, noting that they act in a responsible, transparent and efficient manner.
