Serbian Armed Forces install pontoon bridge over Velika Morava River near Svilajnac
Members of Serbian Armed Forces pontoneer units have installed a pontoon bridge over the Velika Morava River near Svilajnac, in the immediate vicinity of the main bridge, where traffic has been suspended since last June.
The bridge has been installed at the request of Svilajnac local government representatives, to enable locals, who had been forced to use long, alternative routes, to cross the river more quickly.During the activity, pontoneers conducted the necessary inspection of floating elements, transported them along the river, and installed the bridge. Following the safety and traffic control devices checks, the bridge was handed over to the Municipality of Svilajnac for use today.
Passenger motor vehicles, motorcyclists, and pedestrians will be able to cross the bridge, while buses and freight vehicles will be directed to alternative routes. In order to ensure full safety for all users, a unit has been deployed to take care of the bridge’s maintenance and safety for as long as it is in operation.The pontoon bridge will greatly simplify the daily life of residents of Svilajnac and the surrounding area. Through this project, the Serbian Armed Forces have once again demonstrated that they are always at the service of citizens.
