Combat training in artillery fire support
A unit of the Mixed Artillery Brigade equipped with 155 mm B-52 M-15 Nora self-propelled howitzers has successfully concluded a period of intensive training with live-fire exercises at the Pasuljanske Livade training ground.
The purpose of the training was to maintain the achieved level of readiness and further enhance both individual and collective skills. Crews primarily practiced occupying firing positions, manoeuvring the unit, and conducting indirect fire against targets of tactical, operational, and strategic significance.Members of the Serbian Armed Forces’ reconnaissance and special units also took part in the final phase of the exercise. They trained in directing artillery fire using modern systems integrated onto combat vehicles, portable optronic devices, and remotely piloted aircraft.
By integrating reconnaissance and special units’ assets with artillery systems for observation, preparation of firing data, and fire control, capabilities in target detection, speed of information transfer, and overall fire manoeuvre have been significantly improved.Continuous training and tactical exercises are essential for maintaining the high level of proficiency within the professional personnel and for enhancing the Mixed Artillery Brigade’s ability to provide reliable, precise, and powerful fire support to Serbian Armed Forces units during operations. For this reason, such training is conducted throughout the year in various terrain, weather, and tactical conditions.
