Wreath laid at Monument to Unknown Hero to mark Victory Day
Acting on behalf of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, Miloš Vučević, accompanied by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mt. Avala, to mark Victory over Fascism Day (Second World War).
After the wreath-laying ceremony, accompanied by the Serbian national anthem and a ceremonial Guard formation, Miloš Vučević signed the memorial book with the following message:
"Glory to you, immortal heroes of our Serbia!You who lived and died for the glory and honour of the fatherland.
For peace and freedom. For future generations. For us.
We pledge to you that we will defend peace.
To you who defended your own and died innocently.
To all of you who were part of freedom movements.
We pledge that we will not surrender Serbia, that Serbia shall not be subjugated.
And that we will defend the freedom and independence of our only homeland. May its glory last forever!”
The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by the Chief of the Military Office of the President of the Republic, Brigadier General Predrag Kraljević, the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Nikola Matović, the Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard, Colonel Vladimir Vukajlović, and the Chief of the Office of the Chief of the General Staff, Colonel Boris Stojković.
