Gun salute commemorating Victory Day
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard today fired a gun salute from the Sava Terrace in Kalemegdan Park to mark May 9 – Victory over Fascism Day.
The ceremony was attended by State Secretary Mile Jelić, the Chief of the Military Office of the President of the Republic, Brigadier General Predrag Kraljević, and the Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard, Colonel Vladimir Vukajlović.After the national flag was raised and the anthem played, the Order of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, was read out. Following this, members of the Guard performed a gun salute, firing ten rounds from six artillery pieces.
Victory over Fascism Day commemorates May 9, 1945, when the Nazi Germany signed its unconditional surrender, which brought the Second World War in Europe to an end.
