Aid delivered to family of Košare hero Desimir Selimović
Members of the Serbian Association of Security Services and Military Police Veterans, together with former members of the 52nd Military Police Battalion, have delivered humanitarian aid to the family of the fallen Košare hero Desimir Selimović in his native village of Veliki Izvor near Zaječar.
After commemorating the anniversary of their comrade’s death, members of the Association and former members of the 52nd Battalion, guided by principles of solidarity, launched a humanitarian initiative and raised funds to support the family of hero Desimir Selimović, who live in modest financial circumstances.During the visit, Srđan Simonović, a member of the Association of Veterans, emphasized the importance of supporting the families of fallen servicemen.
- We raised a certain amount of money and used it to buy household appliances and white goods for the Selimović family. The remainder of the funds will be given to them to help cover their day-to-day expenses – Simonović said.
The donation and the knowledge that their loved one’s sacrifice has not been forgotten carry immeasurable significance, said Dejan Selimović, the brother of the fallen soldier, thanking all those who took part in the initiative.Desimir Selimović, known among his comrades as Desko, was born in 1978 in Veliki Izvor near Zaječar. H was killed in the municipality of Klina, at the Volujak pass, on April 14, 1999, while securing a convoy of vehicles. The police transporter he was driving was struck by two infrared homing missiles during the NATO aggression. He was 21 years old at the time of his death.
