Briefing President of Republic on Capabilities of Serbian Armed Forces
Today, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, has been at the “Banjica 2” barracks in Belgrade, where, in a meeting with the highest leadership of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, he was briefed on the current security situation and future plans for improving the operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović and members of their collegiums, as well as high-ranking officials from Republika Srpska.President Vučić thanked the leadership of Republika Srpska for attending today’s meeting and pointed out that today they discussed security, peace and stability in the region, as well as defence capacities and plans for their further improvement.
— Today I proposed, as the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, the development and adoption of the Robotization Strategy, the formation of a battalion-level unit equipped with robotic platforms, the execution of organizational preparations for the formation of battalions of long-range attack drones and loitering ammunition, the training of special reconnaissance units to determine the coordinates of targets for artillery and aviation fire control, further equipping and training in the use of drones in other units as well — said the President of the Republic and added that he told the officers, many of whom are legendary commanders from the time of NATO aggression, as well as young people who have learned a lot from them, that in this revolutionary period of great changes in our armed forces — the period of digitization and robotization of our armed forces and the use of the most powerful and modern missiles — they participate with great enthusiasm, even greater dedication and great energy.
The Supreme Commander has pointed out that the security situation is somewhat more complex than at the beginning of the year, primarily due to the actions and further activities of the military alliance of Priština, Tirana and Zagreb.— Our determination to preserve peace and stability has not changed, and we can preserve it only if we are strong enough, if we are powerful. Accordingly, I would like to inform you that in the coming days we will sign large and very important contracts for further procurement of weapons and military equipment. We are expecting big and important visits, additional contracts with other countries, and we have made big orders for our armed forces — said the President of Serbia, adding that the state of war materiel reserves, as well as the state of replenishment, is significantly better than in January.
The President of the Republic has said that the Serbian Armed Forces will have such capabilities that they will not miss anything, that they will see everything — from strategic aviation in the surrounding to those that do the refueling with foreign planes at long distances from our country.
— The Serbian Armed Forces will have a particularly strong multi-layered anti-aircraft defence consisting of electronic jammers and attack devices, equipment, weapons and assets that serve to protect troop units, as well as those that serve to protect our cities, infrastructural facilities and everything else — explained the President of Serbia.The Supreme Commander has said that the amount of weapons and equipment, as well as the strength and capacities of the Serbian Armed Forces are increasing and that their further development will continue. He added that he expects the increase in the production of drones in our country this year to be significant.
— Apart from the increased production of drones, which I expect to happen this year, we will significantly devote ourselves to the robotization and digitization of our armed forces and we will succeed in this. I think that we will be one of the armies with, in this respect, the most pronounced interoperability and the greatest capabilities not only in our region, but also beyond that — concluded President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces.
