Defence University showcasing military education programmes at “Putokazi” education fair in Novi Sad

The University of Defence is taking part in the 20th International Education Fair - “Putokazi” in Novi Sad, where it is presenting its educational programmes and the advantages of military schooling to elementary and secondary school students.
At the Defence University stand, officers, teachers, cadets, and students of military schools – the Military Academy, the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy, the Military Grammar School, and the “1300 Corporals” Secondary Vocational Military School – will provide visitors with information on study programmes, specializations, application procedure, and the admission process. They will also present military schools’ accommodation, teaching, and sports facilities, while fair visitors will have the chance to hear directly from cadets and students what a typical day at a military school looks like.

Sixth-year cadet Bojana Ognjanović from the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy explained that secondary school students visiting the Defence University stand are usually most interested in what the entrance exam for military schools looks like and how best to prepare for it.

- Our faculty offers many advantages in both medicine and dentistry, which is now available at our faculty. Above all, it allows you to combine a love for the military, your country, and medicine. MMA doctors are available 24 hours a day, as well as the hospital, where we work directly with patients every day. Once we finish our studies, a secure job awaits. My experience has been incredibly positive, these have perhaps been the best six years of my life so far. I recommend it to anyone who loves medicine and the military to join us at our faculty – emphasized cadet Ognjanović.
Third-year student Sara Butaš from the “1300 Corporals” Secondary Vocational Military School said that parents and elementary school students visiting the Defence University stand are most interested in what a typical day at a military school looks like and how to best prepare for the entrance exam.

- At the entrance exam, students should primarily focus on mathematics and physics, but also on the physical fitness test. I recommend the Secondary Vocational Military School because it offers, among other things, secure employment upon graduation, as well as numerous opportunities for further training and professional development – Sara Butaš explained, adding that she had enrolled in this school because she loves military profession and seeks to achieve bigger goals in life.

Fourth-year student Lola Drašković, who attends the Social Studies and Languages course at the Žarko Zrenjanin Grammar School in Vrbas, is interested in applying to the MMA Medical Faculty, which she says would give her both permanent employment and the chance to gain clinical practice.
- What I especially liked, and learned about today, is the opportunity to work in smaller groups during studies, which makes communication with professors much better and easier. I personally believe this is one of the key factors for success both during studies and in future work - said Lola Drašković, adding that she inherited her love of medicine from her mother, a nurse, and that working in the defence system would be “a dream come true” for her.

The International Education Fair runs until March 21, while applications for the Military Academy, the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy, the Military Grammar School, and the “1300 Corporals” Secondary Vocational Military School remain open until March 31.
