Peacekeeping training for Military Police units

Military Police units of the Army designated for deployment to peacekeeping operations, have conducted collective training at the Aerodrom barracks in Sombor.
The purpose of the training was to maintain and enhance the proficiency of these platoon-sized units, which the Republic of Serbia has designated for deployment under the Operational Capabilities Concept mechanism, within the Partnership for Peace programme.

During the two-week field training, personnel practiced procedures for carrying patrols, blockades, area searches, crowd control, operating checkpoints, securing bases, convoys and escorts. They also practised unexploded ordnance procedures and forensic investigation at incident scenes. An important component of the training was the employment of unmanned aerial vehicles in support of military police tasks, both in daytime and night-time conditions.
Officers from the 3rd and 5th MP Battalions explained that the units involved in the training were already certified as combat-ready, having successfully conducted exercises assessed by an international team of evaluators. According to them, the training involved professional members of these units, highly motivated and qualified for the roles they perform, which was clearly reflected in the results they achieved both during certification training and in the execution of everyday MP tasks.

A non-commissioned officer from Niš, who has been with these units since their establishment, said that this joint exercise provided an opportunity for all personnel to apply their knowledge and skills in various situations.
   — The training we conducted was highly demanding and required a high level of physical and tactical proficiency, as well as stability and mental resilience. During the execution of exercises of this kind, the collective becomes important. We approached it, as we do all other tasks, with the utmost seriousness, working closely with our commanders to carry it out as efficiently as possible - he stated.
The Operational Capabilities Concept is one of the forms of cooperation within the Partnership for Peace programme, through which the Serbian Armed Forces achieve interoperability standards and further develop the operational capabilities of units designated for participation in peacekeeping operations. In addition to MP platoons, the Serbian Armed Forces also have qualified and combat-ready units of various specialties, all trained in line with this concept.
